Remember when we had school counselors to help us make sure we were on the right path to graduation? They helped us make the right choices, plan for our future, and guide us along the path we had set out to take. Many of us were certain of what we wanted to do in life and how our lives would look after graduation. Every class we took, every club we signed up for, every internship that boosted our transcript was supposed to get us to where we wanted to be. Sometimes it did, sometimes it didn’t, but more often than not, we ending up asking ourselves, “Now what?”
There is no shortage of choices that lay ahead of us. Do I go to grad school? Do I take this career path? Do I live here over there? Do I pursue this relationship or end another? The questions are endless. There is also no shortage of opinions, whether helpful or not, to muddle up what we really want for our lives. It’s no wonder we get overwhelmed. Paralyzed. Stuck.
We become terrified of choosing wrongly. It’s as if we have one chance and there is only one right option.
But what if instead, there were several right options? Instead of allowing fear to quiet you or overwhelming feelings to trap you, try coaching. Seek some guidance, discover what it is that you really want, and take a healthy risk to get there.
